Frequently asked questions
Which devices does Facet run on?
Macs running macOS 15 or later, and iPhones and iPads on iOS/iPadOS 17 or later. The Mac app is built for Apple Silicon.
Does Facet make live (animated) wallpapers?
No, Facet produces still images by design. macOS has no public way for third-party apps to drive an animated desktop, so Facet focuses on making the best static wallpaper possible: the preview is live while you edit, and the export is rendered at the exact pixel size of your display.
Where do my wallpapers end up?
On the Mac, Facet can set the desktop wallpaper directly, or export an image wherever you choose. On iPhone and iPad it saves to your Photos library, and you set it as your wallpaper from the lock screen or the Photos app.
Why doesn't the exported image look like the preview?
It should: the preview and the export use the same rendering engine. If you spot a difference, that's a bug. Please email a screenshot, the effect and preset you used, and your device model.
Can I use the photo pack from this site anywhere?
The photo pack is free for personal use: edit the photos, use them as wallpapers on your devices, run them through Facet. Redistribution or commercial use needs written permission.

Report a problem
When something misbehaves, an email with these three things almost always leads to a fix:
- your device and OS version (e.g. "MacBook Air M3, macOS 15.5"),
- what you did, and what happened instead of what you expected,
- a screenshot, plus the photo itself if the problem involves a specific picture and you're comfortable sharing it.
